About Us |
Established in 1945, Maharashtra Mandal Nairobi (MMN) was incorporated on 27th January 1953 under the Societies Act, Chapter 108 as a social, non-political society of all Maharashtrians who are citizens of or residents of Kenya. Maharashtra Mandal, Nairobi is housed in “Maharashtra Bhavan” constructed in 1950 and inaugurated on 20th October 1950 by then High Commissioner of India H.E. Shri. Appasaheb Pant. In 1978/79, MMN upgraded its facility by adding multipurpose hall and additional two (2) flats to the existing facility of halls and four (4) flats. MMN offers a platform to its fellow members to engage in social, cultural and sports activities thereby providing a home away from home to Maharashtrians. The aim of MMN is to promote cultural, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and economic interests of the members in Kenya. We uphold our heritage and nurture the Maharashtrian culture. At MMN, we celebrate many festivals throughout the year namely Sankrant, Gudi Padwa, Maharashtra Din, Ashadhi Ekadashi, Ganeshotsav, Deepawali, Holi and many more. From its humble beginnings, MMN is now a thriving family of over 250 members. |
